  中正大學文學院長期深耕古典學與古代史研究,鏈結東亞漢學,積極參與國際學術對話。

  在古典學方面,涵蓋中國古代思想、經典詮釋、文學脈絡的系統梳理,並結合當代理論展開跨文化對話與詮釋,透過文本細讀與語境分析,整合文學、思想與文化視角,深化經典理解與當代轉譯。在古代史方面,有完整的亞洲史研究群,以田調掘發古代史料、檔案分析整建,以及跨地域比較為重心,探討歷史結構與文明互動的長時段變化。

National Chung Cheng University has demonstrated distinguished performance in the field of Classics & Ancient History. According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject, the University has been ranked within the global top 100 for five consecutive years (2022–2026), placing among the top three in Taiwan, and attaining 31st in the world in 2025. This reflects the steady development of humanities research and the sustained rise of its international academic influence.

The QS subject rankings are based on a composite evaluation of Academic Reputation (90%) and Employer Reputation (10%), highlighting the academic community’s recognition of disciplinary quality. Within this evaluative framework, the College of Humanities at National Chung Cheng University has consistently received strong international recognition, reflecting a strong track record of its research achievements, global engagement, and standing in talent cultivation.

The College of Humanities at National Chung Cheng University has long been dedicated to advancing research in Classics and Ancient History, linking with East Asian Sinology, and actively participating in international academic dialogues.

In terms of Classics, it encompasses the systematic mapping of ancient Chinese thought, classic hermeneutics, and literary contexts, combined with contemporary theories to initiate cross-cultural dialogue and interpretation. Through close textual reading and contextual analysis, it integrates literary, intellectual, and cultural perspectives, deepening the understanding of classics and contemporary translation. In terms of Ancient History, a comprehensive Asian History Research Group is established, centering on the unearthing of ancient historical materials through fieldwork, archive analysis and restructuring, and cross-regional comparisons, to explore the long-term changes in historical structures and civilizational interactions.

In terms of international dialogue, the College of Humanities actively expands interactions with key academic institutions in Europe, America, and Asia, strengthening linkages with East Asian Sinology. Through international conferences, rigorously edited academic journals, collaborative book publications, and transnational research projects, the College enhances the global visibility of its scholarly output. These efforts also attract international scholars and students to come to the College for exchange and visits, fostering a strong humanities research and international competitive environment.

In the context of rapid developments in artificial intelligence and digital technologies, the role of the humanities in value reflection, historical understanding, and cultural interpretation has become increasingly important. In addition to maintaining a strong emphasis on traditional textual scholarship and historical analysis, the College actively incorporates digital humanities methodologies, promoting the digitization of classical texts, the construction of knowledge graphs, and interdisciplinary integrated research. These initiatives demonstrate the innovative transformation of the humanities in the contemporary era.
