講者簡介:
Prof. Ting Huang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages at National Chiayi University. Her research focuses on articulatory phonetics, speech stability and variation, and the multimodal realization of prosody. She investigates how articulatory gestures are coordinated, how prosody and rhythm are manifested in varying ways, and how consonants such as rhotics and sibilants are produced in diverse languages. Through both theoretical insights and empirical findings, she has advanced our understanding of the dynamic nature of spoken communication.
內容簡介:
Prof. Ting Huang's talk explores the acoustic characteristics of alaryngeal speech and their relationship to intelligibility under different speaking conditions. The study examined how vowels and tones are produced across the three common methods of communication following laryngeal removal. The findings indicate that expanded vowel articulation, rather than slower speaking rates, plays a central role in enhancing comprehensibility, and that intelligibility is also closely linked to the use of pitch and intensity in marking tonal contrasts. This work provides new insights into the interaction of phonetics, prosody, and speech adaptation.
